Built to a brief
Tell us what it should serve. We will work out how.
The protein machine is one answer to one question a gym asked us. It is not the limit of what the format can do, and most of the interesting work starts when somebody describes something that does not exist yet.
How it works
A brief, not a catalogue.
Most vending conversations start with a list of machines and end with whichever one is closest to what you meant. We would rather start at the other end: what should it serve, who is standing in front of it, and what has to be true for them to come back.
From there our product design engineers work out the build with the manufacturer. We source and configure the machine, write the recipes, design the interface and the wrap, and run the thing afterwards. We do not claim to manufacture the hardware, and anyone who tells you they do in this market is usually describing somebody else's factory.
The formats
Further than protein.
The rule is simple. If a thing can be stored as components and assembled on demand, it can usually be automated. That covers a lot more than a shelf of bottles.
Frozen and gelato
Scooped or soft, served to order rather than pre-portioned into tubs that frost over in a freezer.
Tea from leaves
Brewed rather than dissolved, with the steep time set per drink instead of averaged across the menu.
Coffee ground at the order
Beans held whole and ground per cup. The difference is obvious to anybody who drinks coffee seriously.
Cold drinks built to order
Juices, coolers and electrolyte drinks mixed at the point of sale, so nothing sits diluting over ice.
Protein and supplements
What we already run. Powder and water, dosed by weight, blended in about a minute.
Something you have not seen
The ones worth doing usually start as a sentence nobody has built yet. Say it and we will tell you whether it is buildable.
Events and venues
It arrives self-contained.
A machine at an event has to behave like a stand and not like equipment. That means a wrap designed for the occasion, a menu tailored from the drink families, cashless payment, and no staff standing behind it for twelve hours in the heat.
- Power and shade is the whole setup. No plumbing, no drainage, no kitchen.
- Cashless throughout. Card and phone, with the terminal and the fees on our side.
- Unattended. It runs from the first hour to the last without a shift pattern.
- Wrapped for the occasion, so it reads as part of the build rather than as a machine that was wheeled in.
- Menus tailored from the drink families, to suit who is actually attending.
What we need from you
Four answers and we can price it.
- What it should serve. Even roughly. "Something cold and Instagrammable" is a real brief.
- Where it stands. Indoors or out, shaded or not, and what power is nearby.
- How many people, and over how long. A single day and a permanent install are different machines.
- The date. Tell us early and we will tell you honestly whether it is achievable.
If what you want is the protein machine as it already runs, the arrangement for gyms is simpler than this. And here is how the current machine works.
Allergens. Drinks are prepared in shared equipment that handles milk, soy and cereals containing gluten (barley). All drinks may contain these allergens, and no drink can be guaranteed allergen-free. Full per-drink allergen information is published on the menu.
Straight answers
What people ask before briefing us.
- What can a custom machine actually serve?
- Anything that can be stored as components and assembled on demand. Frozen desserts and gelato, tea brewed from leaves, coffee ground at the order, cold pressed drinks, protein and supplements. If it can be dosed, chilled or brewed, it can usually be automated.
- Do you build the machines yourselves?
- No. We source and configure machines, and we own the recipes, the interface, the brand and the operating layer that runs on top of them. Our product design engineers work out the build with the manufacturer.
- Can it be wrapped in our branding?
- Yes. The wrap is designed per site or per occasion. It is one of the reasons a machine works at an event, where it reads as a stand rather than as equipment.
- How far ahead do you need to know?
- For a standard format, weeks. For something that has to be designed, longer. The honest answer depends on what you are asking for, so tell us early and we will tell you whether the date is real.
- Can it run outdoors?
- The machines need shade, power and a sensible temperature. An outdoor setting is usually possible with a canopy and the right placement, and we will say plainly when a location will not work.
